Are you bored of walking on the treadmill? Perhaps fed up of those long and lonely walks by yourself in the park?

If your answers to the above questions are "yes", then its time to add some spice and zing to your conventional cardio workout. No doubt, it's important to stay fit and healthy, but not by following the same boring routine.

Here are five fun cardio exercises that you could easily work into your daily or weekly schedule, without compromising on your weight loss or fitness goals.

  • Dance/Aerobics - Nothing beats pumping up the music on maximum volume and dancing your worries away. You could sign up for a fun neighborhood Zumba or Salsa class, or the ones at your local gym or fitness center. Joining a professional dance studio is also a great way to learn a new dance and keep fit at the same time. Aerobics are great for slimming down and toning calve muscles, but in a fun way.
  • Yoga/Pilates - The age old saying that yoga keeps the mind, body and soul at ease is absolutely correct. Yoga is fantastic to not only keep your weight in check, but relax and rejuvenate your mind too. It also helps take away life's daily doses of stress. Pilates are also great for muscle toning as well as strengthening, and burning those calories at the same time.
  • Running/Jogging/Walking with a friend - Its always good to have some company, whether it's taking a long and relaxing walk in the park with a good friend, your mom, or even your dog. How about a good run on the beach if you live in a coastal area? You can even join a marathon.
  • Swimming - If you love water then what better way to keep those muscles toned while having a good time, than a good swim? If you don't have a swimming pool in your home or neighborhood, then join a nearby club to use the pool.
  • Cycling - If you love the outdoors, then plan a cycling outing with your friends It is an easy way to tone thigh and calf muscles, and enjoy some fresh air and greenery at the same time. Vancouver, in Canada, has some of the most scenic cycling routes, so if that's where you live, then you have no excuse to not take your dusty, old bike out for a spin.
